Stainless steel building hardware for doors, gates and industrial structures
Opens easily. Closes precisely. Fits the job.
Looking for a hinge, barrel hinge, bolt or toggle latch? We supply stainless steel building hardware to businesses in industrial quantities. Tell us the application, the dimensions and the quantity, and we will help you choose an orderable version that suits your structure.
No article number yet? You can also start with a description of the task and a photo or drawing.
One badly chosen piece of hardware can make the whole structure hard to use
The door is finished, but the hinge does not fit. The lid opens, but the latch’s counterpart does not line up. And on the outdoor structure it only turns out later that an important environmental factor was missed when the version was chosen.
These questions are worth settling before you buy. The right hardware is determined by movement, load, fixing and operating environment together. A product name or a shiny surface is not enough to decide on.

What building hardware do you need?

Stainless steel hinges
For opening connections on doors, lids and covers. Choose from versions with holes, different leaf designs and opening characteristics. When you look for an inox hinge, check the exact material grade, size and fixing too.

Barrel hinges and other hinges
If the design calls for a barrel hinge, the pin, the fixing method and the handing matter as well as the size. In the online shop you will find weld-on versions, including right-hand and left-hand ones.

Bolts, barrel bolts and accessories
To hold a door or gate in the closed position, a barrel bolt may be the answer. Check how much space the moving part needs, where the receiving piece sits and whether you need a padlockable version. You will find the current versions under other hardware.

Toggle latches and matching counterparts
For closing lids, covers and boxes that are opened often. Choose the main part and the counterpart together: the installation location, the position of the mating surfaces and the closing action you expect all matter.
Looking for a toggle latch? Let’s start from what needs closing!
To choose a toggle latch, tell us what it has to pull together and hold closed: the size of the lid or door, how the two surfaces sit relative to each other, the fixing method and the environment. The latch and the counterpart work together, so the length of the loop and the position of the receiving piece need to be agreed too. We will help you choose which products in our range could work.

| Question | What to tell us | What it helps decide |
|---|---|---|
| 1.Where will it be used? | Indoor/outdoor; moisture, salt, cleaning agents or other chemical exposure. | Material grade and surface finish. |
| 2.What has to move or close? | Size and weight of the door/lid, how it is operated and how often it is used. | Product type and the load data needed. |
| 3.How will it be fixed? | Base material, thickness, holes, screwing or welding. | Whether it can be installed, and the fasteners. |
| 4.How much space is there? | Overall dimensions, opening path, tool access. | Avoiding collisions and installation obstacles. |
| 5.How will it be maintained? | Cleaning, inspection, whether it must come apart. | Access and serviceability. |
A2 or A4? Start from the environment
The terms stainless and acid-resistant do not mean the product suits every environment. Water, salt contamination, cleaning agents and temperature can all affect the choice of material. With A2/A4 markings, too, the documented material of the specific product and the actual service conditions have to be checked.
Near swimming pools and in salty or chemical environments, do not decide on the “A4” marking alone. Describe the expected exposure so that the suitability of the version can be checked.
Load capacity cannot be read from a product photo
A hinge’s material thickness or solid look is not enough on its own. Ask for load data that applies to the specific type and installation. If the data is not available, say in your quote request that you would like this clarified too.

The hardware and its fixing work as one solution
The screw, rivet or welded joint has to suit both the hardware and the receiving structure. Check the holes and access; for welding, plan the right process and the post-treatment as well. Hardware that is the right size is not necessarily right for the whole structure.

Here you will find answers to the most common questions about choosing and ordering building hardware.
Common questions about choosing building hardware
What counts as building hardware?
On this page you will mainly find hinges, barrel hinges, toggle latches, bolts and barrel bolts used to open, connect and close structures. The product selector takes you to the right online shop category.
What is the difference between a hinge and a barrel hinge?
The names cover different designs, but the name alone does not tell you which one suits the job. Compare the fixing, the dimensions, the opening and the documented load capacity. The types are described in the article Hinges.
How do I choose an outdoor stainless steel hinge?
Tell us whether it is exposed to rain, prolonged moisture, salt contamination or cleaning agents. The version, the material and the fixing have to be checked for suitability together. Outdoor use does not point to one material grade that suits every situation.
What does the term inox hinge mean?
The term inox is used for stainless steel products. When ordering, however, ask for the exact material designation too: that and the product documentation are the starting point for choosing the right version for your environment.
How many hinges do I need, and with what load capacity?
To answer this, the dimensions, weight and design of the door or lid, the fixing and the use have to be known. Do not decide on the number of pieces or a photo alone. Ask for data that applies to the specific product and installation and, if necessary, a check by a designer.
Should I order a right-hand or a left-hand hinge?
The point of view can cause misunderstandings, so send a drawing or photo showing the intended opening direction. Confirm the dimension drawing and the handing of the chosen article before you order. Do not rely on the name alone to identify it.
When can a piano hinge be a good choice?
If the design needs a long hinge along the joining edge, a piano hinge may be an option. With this solution, too, checking the length, the holes, the installation location and the required load capacity is part of the choice.

Settle the details before you order
Does a toggle latch need a separate counterpart?
That depends on the version and on the design of the mating surface. In many solutions the latch and the counterpart work together. Check which parts belong together and what is included in the item you order.
What keeps stainless steel hardware in good condition?
Avoid contamination with carbon steel particles, remove deposits and use a cleaning method suited to the surface. Follow the product’s instructions when looking after moving parts. Details: Useful advice on preserving stainlessness.
Can I drill holes in the hardware afterwards?
First check whether the product may be modified and whether the hole would impair its use. Machining needs tools and a process suited to the material. There is a separate guide to drilling acid-resistant steel in our knowledge base.
How much does it cost, and when can it be delivered?
Price and availability depend on the article number, version and quantity you choose. Ask for a current quote and tell us your planned deadline. Do not go by prices or delivery promises in older articles.
Can I buy as a private individual?
Menet-Trend is a wholesaler serving businesses; we are unable to serve private individuals.
